SUPPORT ZAWADI VILLAGE

The Afro Culture Preservation Council Inc. is collecting signatures petitioning all of humanity who have benefited from
friendly racial harmony and equality to join in a Tribute to honor, uplift, and advance Black Americans. We wish to honor
those who have served the United States of America for 500 years who are decedents of chattel slavery and impacted by the
negativity of systemic racism resulting in generations of hopelessness.
We are petitioning that a section of West Philadelphia from 52nd to 63rd Streets along Lansdowne Avenue,
part of "The Corridor," be designated as a Cultural Opportunity Zone: The Zawadi Village (Zawadi means “gift.”)
The Zawadi Village shall be dedicated in honor of the upliftment and advancement of Black Americans.
The Zawadi Village will instill pride and self esteem back into the hearts and souls of Black Americans utilizing
the Nguzo Saba, the 7 principals which Kwanzaa originates. These principles will conjure a harmonious, stable,
productive environment building a foundation for positive change and a healthy, happy lifestyle aiding in the
continuous advancement of humanity. The Zawadi Village will follow the examples of cultural corridors such as the
Italian Market and China Town that were established to provide an economic base for those communities.
